Indiana Barbecue (Aunt Eileen’s Barbecue)

This recipe is kind of like sloppy joe recipe. I also think of “loose meat” sandwich that they served on Roseanne back in the day. so i titled it indiana barbecue because this is not traditional BBQ that many might think of. but our family might think of this when they picture BBQ in context of Great Aunt Eileen.

(Eileen Van Kirk Phillips)

1 lb. ground beef

1 cup chopped onion

1 cup finely chopped green pepper

1 teas. sugar

2 T. prepared mustard

1 T. vinegar (cider or white)

1 teas. salt

1 cup catsup

½ teas. ground cloves

Brown the meat slowly so it does not get hard.  Drain.  Combine the rest of the ingredients with the ground beef and simmer about 30 minutes.
